Good morning my crafty friends. I am sorry it has been so long since my last post but ill health had taken it's toll. I have bad arthritis in my hands and also have carpal tunnel in both hands and a trigger finger on my left hand which has kept me from crafting. I have got a few cards to put on that I had done but for now I am posting my DT card for Gruffies and Guests challenge blog. The theme for this month is blue and silver or anything goes as usual. I was lucky enough to have a early birthday present from my Hubby which was some new dies from the couture creations dies which included this beautiful die (winter flourishes collection) I just had to use it as it makes a beautiful frame for any image you want to use. I cut a piece of silver miriboard 1/2 cm smaller than my 8x8" white card blank so that a little white was showing around the edge of the card, then I placed the inner snowflake die where I wanted it and cut it out. Then I chose this lovely snowflake backing paper and cut it another 1/2cm smaller than the silver piece to give a silver frame and then cut the outside frame die to match up with the silver cutout to create this lovely frame. I then decoupaged my chosen house mouse picture from the triple cd and placed it underneath to show through the aperture. I added some white diamond sparkles glitter to make the snow shimmer and added this lovely silver snowflake patterned bow and a sentiment. I hope you like it,it's a bit late to be a inspiration to you as I am sure you already have all your cards made for Christmas but it is the halfway reminder for this months challenge so perhaps you could pop over and enter for a chance to win this months prize over at http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/

Saturday 1 November 2014

Good morning my friends,I hope it's a nice day where you are. Well I am still busy making my Christmas cards and here is one I have made for the design team for http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/ The theme if you haven't guessed is Anything goes/Christmas. The sponsors this month are http://www.scribbleandscrap.co.uk/index.html and they are giving a £10 voucher to the winner.
I still haven't been able to use scissors well enough to do a 3D decoupage so I have tried to make it more special by adding the poinsettia flowers by Sue Wilson. I added white glitter to the 1st and top layer, which is hard to see in the photo but it makes them glisten and look pretty. The holly leaves I put in amongst them I can't remember where I got them,I think they were on a magazine last year but I'm not sure. The aperture is also Sue Wilson,Californian collection, decorative frames B,I do like the shape of this one as it give a good size for the picture in the center which is from the House Mouse triple CD. I layered it all on red miri card, which I embossed with the crafters companion A4 dotty folder and used the Sue Wilson snowflake lattice A4 folder for the white layer.
I hope you like it and it inspires you

Hey folks,me again,it's like buses lol, you wait forever for one then two come along at once lol. Well here is another one I made today.
I used all Creative expressions Sue Wilson die's and embossing folder on this one,I love all her designs, they really fit my style.
I used the snowflake latice embossing folder, the festive collection pine bough, the sentimental bauble, and for the apeture I used the Californian collection decorative frames B.
I used some green mirriboard then a layer of white card which I 1st cut out the apeture and then the larger outer layer to make a frame. Then I placed a backing paper behind to show through the apeture. Then I embossed embossed the white card and put a dot of cosmic shimmer glitter glue in the centre of each of the snowflakes. Then I die cut 6 of the pine boughs in a olive green and also cut 2 of the baubles out,one just with the outer edge in white glitter card and the other with white shinny card and cut the outer and inner and layered it over the top of the glitter one so it would show through. Then I cut the bauble label from the same olive green card I used for the pine boughs and also the bauble hanging top. I used a white satin ribbon and decorated it with a white button and in the centre I put some cosmic shimmer liquid pearls in the centre to match the green on the rest of the card. I attached the bauble with foam tape to raise it up.
I hope you like it and it inspires you, happy crafting everyone x

Good morning everyone, what a beautiful morning it is to. I haven't been able to craft for a while as I have had shingles which gave me blisters on my right hand which meant I couldn't use it. They are still there but are drying up but it means I can't use scissors still so can't do my usual 3D decoupage type cards. However I have managed to be able to use my die's. So I have done my 1st Christmas card and tried something a bit different. I used the Sue Wilson filigree poinsettia die's and the plain poinsettia die's to create this one,I also used the crafters companion dottie A4 embossing folder and the Sue Wilson holly die and one of my favourite ribbons for the bow. I hope you like it and it inspires you

Saturday 20 September 2014

Well I am two weeks later with this one than normal as I was playing nurse to my very pregnant daughter who only has two weeks until she gives birth as her back went into spasm and she was in a lot of pain. She needed help with my Grandson and a bit of TLC so another DT member and good friend offered to swap dates with me to help me out so that I didn't have to rush to get one made for the begining of the month, thank you Kym.
This week we have had some workmen in to errect our new summer house and landscape the area around it,so inbetween keeping them filled up with coffee's and feeding them toasted sandwiches and burgers I have been busy with my latest DT card for http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/, This months challenge is anything goes with the option of Fall. I as always really enjoyed making this one. I love the colours of Autumn,it's my favourite season so it was easy to get inspired.

I started this one by choosing a image from the Gruffies and Happy hoppers cd,I just love the bear with the pumpkin on his head lol. The backing paper was from the cd to so that saved a lot of time searching through hundreds of 12x12 papers to find the right one. As always I love to bring this wonderful artwork from Ellen alive by decoupaging it up to look 3D although the photo never does it justice. If you could see it in the flesh,it really looks like he is wearing the pumpkin and the other has his hands inside the pumpkin. I then chose a copper miricard for behind the backing paper and the image to make it pop more. Then with this lovely Tonic punch, butterflies I think it's called, I punched along the bottom of the backing paper and stuck it to the miricard. I had these lovely reeds in my stash from years ago and thought they suited the colours of the season so thought I would make use of them. Then I found this beautiful orange ribbon among my ribbon collecting obsession boxes and doubled it up and tied it to give a fuller double bow and placed a beautiful button with a sparkly in the center on the center of the bow. I then threaded some peach and brown beads onto these lovely stick pins and stuck them into the back of the bow so as to hide the sharp ends and attached it to the card. I found this other image of a house mouse all dressed up for Halloween but can't remember where I got him, sorry. I decoupaged him to and thought it would look sweet if I placed him at the bottom, looking up at the bears. I am very pleased with the finished card and hope it has inspired you to have a go and come over and enter the challenge at http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/ where our sponsors for this month are Bearly mine and are giving the lucky winner a £10 voucher  http://bmd-creations.blogspot.co.uk/ So what have you got to lose, even if you are not lucky enough to win you will have a great card to give someone special a real treat. Happy crafting everyone :)
Good morning everyone,it's a bit murky out there today but then that's just a good reason to stay in and craft. I am a bit late with this card as I know I promised the second of my two cards the day after the 1st one but then I remembered it was time for my DT card for Gruffies and Guests so I had to get busy with that, the upside is you get two cards today
Anyway this was the second card I made and this was for a 11 year old girl so I made it a bit more grown up with a fun element to it. As soon as I saw this image I fell in love with it,but then I fall in love with all the house mouse images lol.
I started by choosing the backing paper to match the colours of the candles and embossed it with my crafters companion 8x8 embosalicous knit one pearl one folder to give it texture and rounded off the corners to match the shape of the card. Then although a photo never shows it,I set about decoupaging the image up. I also cut the cake out and glittered it up so it had a sparkle, something else that doesn't show up well in a photo. Then I layered the image up onto some pink card and placed it at a angle on the card. Then I tied this beautiful pink satin ribbon around the spine of the card and just tied it in a knot instead of a bow and added a coordinating button with a sparkly center. I can't remember where I got the die cut happy birthday from,I found it amongst my die cuts and just inked around the edges in pink so it wasn't a stark white and added them to the card. The lady who asked me to make it was very pleased with it and I hope you like it to.

Hello my friends and how are you all today? I hope you have been getting lots of crafting done. I haven't done much lately, things just keep happening to stop me. My daughter is only 3 weeks from giving birth to my 2nd grandchild and has been suffering badly with spasms in her back. I know how painful that is as I have had it happen in the past. She ended up going to A&E but there is little they can do for her as anything they could give her could harm the baby. So I have been doing my best to help out with taking some of the work load off her by spending time with my grandson,it's a real chore,NOT. I do hope it gets better soon though as we don't know how she will cope with labour if it goes into spasm when she gives birth.
Anyway I did manage to get a couple of cards done, and of course they are my favourite house mouse. A friend wanted two cards for their granddaughters who will be 7 and 11 soon. I 1st did this one for the 7 year old and had lots of fun doing it,as usual. I started by cutting out the lolipop and covering it in versamark embossing ink and using clear embossing powder to make it look shinny like a sweet. Then I found this lovely colour gradient paper I had forgotten I had and embossed it with a A4 embosibilities folder, small dots. Then I chose a pink miricard for the layering and placed it under the backing paper and the image. Then I cut and layered up the image and glued it on so it could be drying while I did the rest. I then set about drawing and cutting the triangles for the bunting out of a striped background paper that was also on the triple cd and punched holes in each of the top corners so I could thread bakers twine through them and string them together. Then I couloured some peel off letters and stuck them on and threaded the twine through. Then I wondered how I could make some sweets to put at the bottom and tried wrapping buttons with wrapping paper but it was too thick so I went and found some quality street chocolates that weren't being eaten and pinched the wrappers off of them,so I had the wrappers but what was I going to use for the sweets hmmmmm, then the light in my head came on and I thought,I have a tin of glass pebbles that I never use from my glass painting days. I found some the right size and wrapped them in the sweet wrappers and they looked just right. I then assembled the card and as a last little touch I curled some ribbon to look like streamers and added them to. I hope you like the finished card.
I have to go to my daughters again today so I will post the 2nd card tomorrow as I am short of time. Take care and happy crafting everyone

Monday 1 September 2014

Good morning my friends,I hope you have all had a good August although it has not been as warm and sunny as you would expect for this time of year. I have been kept very busy this month with two sets of visitors staying with us and my Husband having another mini stroke which was very worrying. He is on the mend now but still taking it easy which means I am busier than usual.
It has been a struggle to do much crafting but I hate to let people down so I have made this card for my latest design team card for http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/

This months challenge is to follow this colour scheme

or use this sketch

I chose to go with the sketch and a couple of the colours.  This months sponsor is http://www.kingcrafts.co.nz/ who is offering a prize of a card kit. So why not pop over and enter for you're chance to win

Happy crafting :)

Thursday 7 August 2014

Hello again everyone,me again!!!!
Well it is late due to my being ill but here is my design team card for http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/ It is my favourite time of the month,I will never tire of creating cards from these little critters. This month I have used a image from the Gruffies and Happy Hoppers cd . The challenge this month is anything goes/boys so I chose this image of this cute bear riding his motor bike.
I have done it in 3D decoupage as I like to bring these images alive and can't resist decoupaging them, the metal on the bike I cut out and then inked with silver ink to make them look more metalic. I used this backing paper because I thought it gave an American feel and to add a bit of sparkle I used a quickie glue pen around the edges of some of the stars and added blue glitter.
I hope you like it and I hope we will see you over at Gruffies and Guests to enter the challenge. Our sponsor this month is http://petallu.tictail.com/ who has donated a £10 lucky dip prize of a some of her flowers. Happy crafting everyone, take care

Tuesday 5 August 2014

Good afternoon everyone,I hope you have all been enjoying the glorious weather we have been having the last few weeks.
I am sorry it has been a few weeks since I have blogged, but I have been unwell (again) with a nasty cold. I never normally get colds and I have no idea where I caught it but it has knocked me for six. I suffer from a lot of health problems, one of which being M.E/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and it means my body cannot fight something like this well. I am not the sort of person that gives up when I am ill (if I were, nothing would ever get done) but this went down on my chest and made me feel awful. Anyway,I am just starting to get back on my feet at last and felt up to doing some card making,JUST!
This is a design team card that is a little late as it was due on the 1st of the month for the http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/  The challenge this month is colour/sketch/digi

my card is just a simple one this time as I am still just getting back on my feet but I hope you like it. I have used this stamp before and I cannot remember where I bought it as it was quite a few years ago now,but I do love it. I hope you will feel inspired to pop over and enter the challenge

Happy crafting everyone xx

Friday 11 July 2014

Hello my friends,I hope you are all having a good day. The weather is not exactly playing summer today but hey it is a good excuse to craft, every cloud has a silver lining I say.
My friend asked me if I could make a card for her to give to a friend who had just given birth to twin girls. So I turned to the images that inspire me most and anyone who knows my cards you will know that is House Mouse.
I found this image on the triple cd and although it originally had the babies with one blue and one pink bib, I took it into my serrif craft artist program and changed the colour of the blue bib to pink and I was ready to go.

I always set about doing the 3D decoupage 1st so that it can be drying while I decide what I want to do with the rest of the card. Obviously the colour choice for this card was pink,I am not generally one of those women who likes pink much but the subject matter called for it. I wanted to use this new embossing folder from Crafts Too (Fancy Lattice) so I embossed a pink piece of card ( 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 in) then I used cosmic shimmer liquid pearls and placed one at every spot between the lattice shapes and left to dry. Then I cut a piece of crafters companion centura pearl card (8 x8 in) to fit the card and applied it with double sided tape which I always prefer to use as I find it never comes unstuck.
Then I wanted to cut a frame to lay on top of the embossed topping to frame the image. I used a spellbinders Timeless rectangle die,I embossed it only from the crafters companion centura pearl card and cut it out around the outside edge and in the centre, then cut another from the die using a pink backing paper and layed it over the top of the 1st so that the embossed one showed through. Once everything was dry I put it all together and added the bow which I made from cream satin ribbon to match the centura pearl card and made a triple bow from some bakers twine and cut the loops to create a fringed effect, stuck it to the bow and added a cream button and layered it with a pink button. Then I decided to add two congratulations as it was for twins and cut the twins on my brother scan and cut. I have since added a gem above the I as it was looking like it spelt Tuuns lol.
I hope you like the finished card and hope you all have a good week,I have a pile of ironing with my name on it so I know I will be having fun, not!!!!
Happy crafting everyone :)

Saturday 5 July 2014

Hello,me again,I don't know it's like buses, nothing comes for a while then two come along lol.
Well it's that time again,my favourite time of the month, yes it's Gruffies, happy hoppers and  house mouse time and anyone who knows me will know they are the love of my life. I just know I will never tire of making cards with them. It doesn't matter if I have lost my mojo or not,I can always come up with idea's for cards using these little critters.

This months challenge over at http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/ is Anything goes/ summer. Our sponsor this month is http://www.scribbleandscrap.co.uk/ who are giving a £15 voucher to the winner.
I just couldn't resist this little fella from the house mouse triple cd,he is just so cute.

I wanted to use the colour of sunshine on this one as it was a summer theme  but I also wanted the image to stand out so I wanted to keep the colours simple. I decided I wanted a white background but wanted to add texture by embossing it with a embosalicous folder I added to my collection this month I think it is called knit one pearl one. I must say it is my new favourite as it gives a lovely texture and it is non fussy. The die I used for the large flowery shape doily behind the mouse was the creative expressions Italian collection Tuscany die set. I cut out three of them and trimed off the smaller edges to just leave what were the corners of the die, then layered them up so they resembled a sun shape, but you could also say it looks flower like. I inked the edges with orange ink just to give a subtle edge to separate it from the white of the background. I cut another of the Tuscany dies from a orange.yellow card and this time used the center die also so that it would cut out the centre and then cut the edges off to leave just a circular frame to lay over the top to frame the image. I then decoupaged the image up and added it into the frame and then added a sentiment cut from The happy birthday that came with the new Tonic topper die set and added my signature bow, (you know how I like a bow on my cards) and of course the buttons to finish off the center knot. I hope you like the finished card,I know I do. Most of the time I take so long to make a card that I have been looking at it for so long I am not always sure if I like a finished card until I get some feedback about it but I am in love with this one. Every now and then I do make one that I fall in love with.
We would love to see you over at at Gruffies and guests entering this months challenge, now that we have the option of anything goes or the theme it leaves it wide open for you to create whatever your creativity wants to as long as it is a Gruffies, happy hoppers or house mouse image of course. If you have never worked with these images you don't know what you are missing,it is without doubt the best cd on the market in my opinion and you can get it from Joanna sheens site http://www.joannasheen.com/craft-supplies/joanna-sheen-cdroms-project-books/the-housemouse-triple-cd-collection/
Thank you for popping by and have a good time crafting away, take care xx

Wednesday 2 July 2014

Hello everyone,I am sorry it has been a while between posts but I have been busy catching up on things that don't get done while I am having a bad spell with my M.E. Things build up and then I am playing catch up until it hits me bad again and then it all starts again, but it is what it is and I refuse to let it get me down.
Anyway my card today is for the DT for http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/ again,this months theme is colour/flora
flora tones

I didn't have all the colours in the pallet so I went with the pink and blue. I used my new Tonic topper dies to cut out the pink frame and used one of the topper die cuts that came with the dies,I used a Tonic heart behind it and cut some swirls from the same pink card from the Tonic swirl dies. I cut some flower shapes out with my Brother scan and cut machine and inked the edges in blue and curled the petals and layered them up to get this carnation looking flower which I placed in the center of my bow. I used a nice striped pink background sheet and embossed it with the Sue wilson embossing folder, sorry can't remember what it is called. I don't often do cards with no image on but wanted to give it a try. Pinks are not really a colour I like much so I can't decide if I like it or not,I hope you do or if like me you are not a pink person that it will inspire you to at least have a go at a card with just a sentiment. Hope you all have a good day, take care and happy crafting

Sunday 15 June 2014

Hello everyone, it's time to post my latest card and this time round it is one I have done for the design team for http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/ This months challenge is Geode tones

I chose to use greys, blue and cream.

I started by choosing a grey co ordinations card for the background and cut it to size ( 8x8" ) and embossed it using a embossalicous tiny dots folder and then sanded it to bring out the dots. Then I chose a dark grey mirri board and used a tonic border punch at the top and bottom and then used a flourish embossing folder to emboss the center. Then I chose a blue piece of card  to place behind and show through the border. Then I chose this lovely stamp which I have had for years and I am sorry but I can't remember where I bought it. Then I stamped it on some cream card and used  black and blue pro markers to colour it in to match the colour scheme . I then layered it on to a piece of blue card to match the colour showing through the border and then applied it to the card using 3d foam to make it stand proud of the card. Then I made some flowers with cream paper and inked the edges with blue ink and layered them up. Then I chose one of my favourite ribbons to match the colours of the card and attached to the card, then placed one of the flowers in the center of the bow and added two diamond hat pins and one pearl hat pin and then added the other flower and sentiment.
I hope you like the finished card and you can join in the fun over at creative craft cottage blog

Saturday 7 June 2014

Hello everyone, let me start by saying sorry to you for not having blogged for a while. I have a lot of health conditions which mean I spend periods of time where I am unwell and spend a lot of time sleeping which means I don't get much done. Anyway I am feeling a little better for now and have been busy trying to catch up with all my chores and crafting that needed doing.
I hope you have all been well and if not that you make a speedy recovery.

I have been busy the last couple of days working on this card which I have done as part of the design team for Gruffies and Guests. This months theme is Patchwork so I thought I would give my new Brother scan n cut a run for it's money as I haven't had much time to play with it. So I used the patterns already stored in it to cut out the patchwork shapes from different patterned papers and then embossed them all to give them a textured look, then I pieced them all together on some darker Purple card stock. I had already chose this beautiful Gruffie holding a bunch of wisteria flowers and cut it out using this die,I don;t remember the name of it as I don't have the packaging any more,I cut another onto purple card and arranged them on the background the decoupaged the image up. then I added a bow, sentiment and a butterfly to finish it off. I hope you like the finished card and that it gives you some inspiration.
I would love to see your creations so why not pop over to Gruffies and Guests and enter this months challenge, there are so many talented crafters out there that I am sure you will come up with some amazing enteries. Happy crafting everyone, stay well and stay happy x

Thursday 15 May 2014

Hello everyone,I am a bit late with this post as I have still been unwell and struggled to get this 1st DT card done for the new blog http://cccdigicreations.blogspot.co.uk/ which is the sister blog to creative craft cottage but this one is for digi stamps. The theme this fortnight is anything goes and I chose to use this lovely image from our sponsors for this challenge StampArt Design by Kathryne who is offering the lucky winner of this challenge a choice of 5 digi stamps from her store. I must admit to this being the 1st digi stamp I have ever used and found it a challenge myself, only in that it is not my usual sort of image. I do hope you pop over and enter the challenge yourselfs,I look forward to seeing your creations.

I hope you like my card, I couldn't resist doing something I usually do and that is 3D decoupaging it. I have left a sentiment off for now so that I can add one when I decide what occasion to use it for. If you have any questions about it please ask as I am feeling very unwell and I can't think straight enough to go through how I made it at the moment. I am off to the hospital tomorrow so hopefully I might get some answers and treatment and be on the road to recovery soon, take care and happy crafting xx

Saturday 3 May 2014

Good morning my crafty friends
It's that time of the month again (no not that time ha ha), it's house mouse time.
This is my latest DT card for Gruffies and Guests challenge blog. This months challenge is Spring so I chose this lovely image from the house mouse tripple cd set of this cute mouse paddling his way on the water.
I use co ordinations card stock for the back layer and left it plain then embossed some green mirri board and then another piece of the co ordinations card stock but this time embossed and then sanded it and layered it onto the mirri board.

Then I decoupaged the image, which never shows up well in a photo

Then I made a stopper as this is a easel card from layers of white card then the pink co ordinations card which I then punched a edge on it from a Martha Stewart edging punch and layered it with green mirri board and some more co ordinations card that again I embossed and sanded in the same pattern.

Then I added a bow in a matching green

Then I made these daisies from a pink card,I like to use a light weight card as it means I can shape the petals to stand up. Then I used some yellow buttons to match the yellow in the centre of the main flower in the image
And finally I made the sentiment at the bottom of the card by typing out a sentiment in green writting and printed it out and layered it onto some more green mirri card.

I hope you like the finished card and that it has inspired you to pop over to http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk/and enter this months challenge. Our sponsor this month is http://www.disdigistamps.com/ and they are giving a £10 voucher to the winner,so show us your talent

Good morning my crafty friends. I so enjoyed making the last pop up box card that when it was time to make a birthday card for my grandson I thought I would try doing one with the characters from his favourite movie Monsters Inc. I was pleased with how it turned out and it was all worth it to see his excitement when he saw it. I hope you like it to and it inspires you to give one a go. I have included the template for the measurements I used which are to fit a A5 size envelope.

Wednesday 16 April 2014

Hello my crafty friends
Well it's that time of the month when there is a new challenge on creative craft cottage blog that I design for and this months challenge is to use Washi tape. It is something I have never used so it felt like it was going to be a challenge for me to. I didn't even own any or know what it was prior to this challenge.
I have been wanting to make one of these pop up box cards I have been seeing around but didn't know how they were made, so I thought I would give it a try. I worked out the measurements I would need to do as I didn't have a template and scored and cut the card. The washi tape I bought was green and black so I made this the colour for the box card. For the individual panels I layered green card which I put through a embossing folder to give it some body and layered it on to black card. I used a Martha Stewart edge punch on the edge of the back panel and then put black card, and  used the Washi tape around the edges and a contrasting striped tape in the middle. I made up the flowers and thought that pink goes really good with green, and centred them with black to tie it in with the theme. I don't know if it shows but I put the flower petals through a spotty embossing folder to give them texture. I then cut some swirls out of black card using the tattered lace dies. Then used spellbinders butterfly dies to cut the butterflies. I arranged the flowers how I wanted them and added the swirls .
I hope you like it,I know I had fun making it,I have been trying to stretch myself lately and do things I haven't done before. It uses different tools and Techniques and pushes me to build up different skills.
It would be so good to see what you can come up with using Washi tape so why not pop over to  http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/2014/04/challenge-20-washi-tape.html  and enter this months challenge there is a gift for the winning card to.

I have had some requests for the template for measurements for this card and I am sorry it has taken a while but I have been unwell. But here it is, it is a JPEG image so you should be able to copy it to your pc and print it out

Hello my crafty friends,
Well it's that time of the month again and that can mean only one thing, yes,it's Gruffies and Guests DT card time.
This month the theme for the challenge is anything goes or a touch of Lace so that leaves a lot of scope. So we hope to see you over there and getting involved with the challenge at http://gruffiesandguests.blogspot.co.uk// . I do love to see all your creations as I can never get enough of these guys. The challenge this month is sponsored by http://bmd-creations.blogspot.co.uk/ and there is a £10 voucher to spend with them for the winner.
Well here is my design team card and the rest of the team have come up with some lovely cards to.

I started with a beige background paper that I put through my new A4 Sue Wilson  Quilted Flower embossing folder, which is very pretty. I layered it on to some brown mirri card to give it a nice frame. Then I cut another piece of the mirri card just a little wider than my lace and embossed that also with the same folder, then wrapped my lace on to it and secured it on the back and added some 3D foam pads to the back and added it to the left side of the card. I then used spellbinders labels twenty five to cut around this lovely image of the Gruffies enjoying some ice cream ( I used the largest die in the set) Then I placed the die on to some of the brown mirri card and trace around the outline and cut it out to create a border around the image. I always use double sided tape to secure anything I put on flat as I find it sticks well and stays stuck unlike a lot of glues which I find in time dry out and bits start to fall off. So I stuck the image on the mirri card and then put two layers of foam pads on the back to raise it above the lace strip and stuck it on the card. I had this pre die cut sentiment which I cut out a piece of mirri card to match and then of course the obsession of mine, the bow which I had to match the colours and finished it off with one of these sparkly pompoms which I purchased from the pound shop, great bargain pack of various sizes,I chose yellow to match the yellow of the ice cream tub. I hope you like the finished card and it gives you some inspiration to,happy crafting :)

Hello my crafty friends
It has been a very hectic week this week. I decided to sell all the crafty stash that I don't use or have bought and never used so that I could make some room and buy things that I WILL use when I go to a craft fair on Sunday. It was a great success but it has kept me very busy, wrapping and weighing parcels and working out the cheapest way to send them.
I made this latest card for a very dear friends birthday and once she had received it I posted a photo of it in a group on Facebook, I had such a great response to it that I thought I had better find the time to put it on my blog.
It all started when I thought I would have a go at making a owl,it turned out so well and my friend who ended up receiving it commented that she loved owls that I thought I would use it to make her a card for her birthday. I was very pleased with the finished card and so along with her were a lot of people.
I have been asked by a lot of people how I made the owl, so as soon as I get all these parcels off and I can breathe again I will be doing a video on how it was made and will post it on here,so if you like it then watch this space. I hope this gives you some inspiration, happy crafting

Hello my crafty friends
It's that time of the month when we run a new challenge over at http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.uk/ and I have done this card as my design team card. The challenge this month is spots and stripes and I hope we will see you all entering this month and give us a chance to see your creations. I hope the fabulous cards the DT have come up with will inspire you.

I started this card by choosing my favourite Kanban stamp,it is from a set of three dresses and I just love this one. Then I had a look to see what backing papers I had that went along with the theme of spots and chose two other contrasting coloured papers. Then I stamped the image on both of the contrasting papers and cut them out. I used the darker colour for the frill and the insert piece and the lighter for the main dress. I wanted to give it texture so that it appeared more like material so I ran it through a embossing folder. I then stamped another image on white card and coloured the manikin in with pro markers, ivory and blush. Then I chose a frame die to fit the image and cut and embossed it then shaded the edges while it was still in the die with a distress ink pad and then embossed another frame in the lighter of the two contrasting papers and cut it out using scissors and laid it underneath so that the colour would show through. I then punched holes in the bodice and laced through them with a contrasting yarn and then layered the lighter one on top of the dark layer and added some sparkly jewels to the top of the dress (well who doesn't like a bit of bling). then I made a bow with some satin ribbon I had and added a flower in the same colour to the center of the bow. Finally I embellished it with some white swirls and added some contrasting buttons, pearls and two hat pins which I threaded on some pearls and added a sentiment. I hope you like the finished card and it inspires you.
Happy crafting my friends and have a good day xx

Hello crafters, I am sorry but I forgot to put a DT card on here that I did for this months challenge over at Aly's crafty challenge. I'm putting it down to not having been well,it seems to have addled my brain lol.
Anyway the challenge this month is butterflies, most people like butterflies so I am sure it will have a good response. Anyway this is the card I made,I hope you like it,I must admit because I had to get out of my sick bed to do it, it was a quickly made card by my standards, which is normally two days.

Ok folks,People have asked me how I made the flowers on my latest card so I thought I would do a video. I must add that it is video only as I hate my voice so I don't speak, maybe in the future I will build up the courage to talk but for now it's just pictures but I hope it helps you get an idea of how to make them

I used the Sellbinders Heartfelt Creations dies for these flowers

Hello my crafty friends,
As you know if you read my blog I haven't been well now for a while and haven't felt up to doing much crafting. On Wednesday I felt a little better and thought it was about time I tried to play with my new Brother scan and cut machine as I have had it for a couple of weeks now.
I managed to find a free download of some backgrounds on birdcards.com and thought i would try scanning one in to try. I had success with this one so I thought I would make a card with it. I hope you like the finished card

Saturday 1 March 2014

Hello crafty friends
It is that time of the month again when I make my DT card for the wonderful Gruffies And Guests challenge blog. This months theme is Fit for Mum or special female. I really enjoyed making this card and as I no longer have a mum I have made the sentiment simple so it will be suitable for a special female for any occasion. I hope you like this card,I love the image and was very pleased with how it turned out.
I hope you will pop over to the blog and enter your creations, this months sponsor is Scribble and Scrap
and they are giving a £15 voucher to spend online with them to the winner. The Gruffies and Guests blog link is on the sidebar,so go on you have nothing to lose,I look forward to seeing your crafty creations

Good morning everyone
I would like to apologise  for not having blogged in a while but I have not been well. In fact I had to force myself out of my bed as I had to make this DT card by today. It was a struggle to start with as I have lost my mojo somewhere and can't seem to find it anywhere lol. Not a good time to lose it as I have my new Brother scan 'n' cut which arrived earlier in the week and I haven't had a play yet. I don't know if any of you ever feel it but I am having a crisis of confidence at the mo,it's probably just because I haven't been able to do much crafting but I see so many lovely cards on blogger and face book that I start to doubt my ability to produce anything as good that I just lose my creative flow. That's why it is good to be on some design teams as it forces you to get back on that horse. I always start by making a random card to get me in that mind set and then once the juices are flowing I start work on the card I need to make, and before I know it my mojo is back.
This card is a DT card for the new challenge over at Creative craft cottage (the link is on the side bar) and the theme is Vintage, which I chose this month so I had to try and come up with something to hopefully inspire crafters to try one themselves and enter our challenge. I am so looking forward to seeing all the creations as I do love vintage cards. So here it is and I hope it does inspire you to make one and enter it into the challenge

I started by choosing a vintage style paper and then chose paper for the dress that complimented and used my favourite dress stamp from Kanban and stamped it several times so that I could decoupage it. I  used a co ordinating pink paper for the little laced bit in the centre. I then cut them out and layered them up to accentuate the ruffles in the dress. Then I cut two of these lovely sizzix thinlits dies - frame garden lattice and joined them together by splicing them. For those of you who don't know how to do this, "and I only know because my husband is a woodworker"  I overlapped them until they were the size I wanted and the laid a ruler across and carefully cut through both layers so they would match up. Then out of crafters companion pearl ivory card I used a spellbinders Majestic elements nestablities Opulent Ovals die to cut out the centre background and inked around it with a red ink as it appears pink on the pearlesant  card stock.
By this time my decoupaged dress was dry and I started to put the card together. I started with a 8x8" white card and cut a piece of sage green card to fit and stuck it on ( I always use double sided tape as in the past when I used glue I found that after a while the glue would dry out and the bits would start falling off the card) I am not saying with more modern glues this would happen,I just got into this habit and am scared to try glue just in case. I guess I should just have a experiment to see how modern glues hold up but for now I will stick to what I am used to doing. Then I cut the pretty backing paper 1/4" smaller and stuck it to the card to leave a border all the way round. Then as the garden lattice die cuts had a centre to them I put double sided tape just on the back of these and carefully lined them up in the centre of the card and stuck them down. Then I stuck the spellbinder frame on top in the centre and added the decoupaged dress. I had these little silk ribbon flowers,I don't remember where I got them from, but they were white which I thought was too stark for this card so again I used the red ink pad to just colour them and they appeared pink again,I then using the rule of odds put three in two opposite corners and added a bow to compliment and topped it off with two buttons, one on top of the other. Then I used cosmic shimmer pearl glue to add some pearls around the frame where the lattice shapes met. I didn't put a sentiment on it as I didn't think it needed one and it leaves it open to be used for lots of different occasions. I hope this has explained the processes I went through to achieve this but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask in the comments and I will get back to you. I would also love to hear what you think about it if you have the time to leave a comment.
Happy crafting everyone!!!!

Good morning everyone! The sun is shining here in Norfolk and it feels good to be alive. It was my birthday yesterday and I had such a lovely day with my family and had so many lovely messages from all my new crafting friends,it really made my day even better,so thank you to you all.

Well it's a new month and that means there is a new challenge starting over at Gruffies and Guests challenge blog. The theme this month is " love is in the air" and our sponsor for this one is " Dawn till dusk craft supplies" who are giving a £10 voucher for this months winning entry so it's well worth popping over and entering your creation for a chance to win

http://www.dawntillduskcrafts.co.uk

I decided for this challenge I would design a card that wasn't the usual red hearts type and do something different. So for my DT card this month I went with one of my favourite (and oh how long the list of favourites are) house mouse images. I know,I know, but I can't help it,I just love them and make no apologies for this obsession.
These  two characters dressed up as Bee's just stole my heart, so I thought they would be perfect as a Valentine card. I love how dramatic the black and yellow are together.

I used my usual 8x8 card and cut a piece of yellow card to fit.
Then I added the black card and embossed it using  the A4 Embossalicious Argyle folder from crafters companion.
I then layered the image on to the same yellow and black card.
Then I typed the words I wanted in a font I liked and printed it out. For the larger yellow layer at the back I used spellbinders Butterflies circles and for the smaller yellow layer I used one of the Stately circles dies ,again from spellbinders. The black and centre layers were Xcut scalloped circles.

I hope you like it, I love it and will be saving it to give to Hubby on Valentines day. I hope it has inspired you to try something different from the norm, happy crafting to you all.

I have entered this into the Just for fun challenge

Tuesday 28 January 2014

Good morning fellow crafters,I hope you are all managing to get some crafting done? I have been busy the last couple of weeks decorating my bedroom. Things take me much longer to do these days as I have to do a little, rest a lot unlike years ago when I would have had a room done in 48 hours and not slept until it was finished. Oh how we waste our youth and spend the rest of our lives wishing we had made the most of it while we had it. It's a very true saying that " Youth is wasted on the young" You see older people going about their daily lives and never imagine how many of them are suffering terrible pain in silence with a smile on their faces until it's you doing it. So to all of you that craft for therapy or to take your minds off the daily pain you suffer I Salute you all. I know it puts me in a place where I can be happy and forget my woes.
After resting for a few days I am hoping to get in my craft room for a couple of days and make some much needed cards. One of the bonuses of being on a few design teams is that it makes you get in there and make something when you may otherwise just rest, and although at times you need to rest it is not good to get into a rut of doing to much of it. So hopefully I will be back soon with some new creations to share with you. So in the meantime happy crafting to you all xx

Monday 20 January 2014

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend. I have been busy decorating my bedroom but took time out to make a thank you card for a lovely lady I met in one of my craft groups on facebook. I wanted to make one that said thank you and didn't want to use a image so I used a spellbinder die called gold elements one which is a lovely lacey triangle/ You can use it with the outer shape to cut it out of the card or just use the internal lace to leave it in the card,I chose the later and cut it four times to make up a square. I have wanted to try it out since buying the die but never got around to it. I found it easier using a A4 magnetic sheet, not only did it mean I could piece it together better but also discovered that it helped to make the die cut better. I often have to pass the bigger, more detailed dies through 6-8 times before it cuts properly and have to keep rotating the die to put the pressure on different parts. But with the magnetic sheet I passed it through and back just once and it cut it perfectly. If you use a die cutting machine give it a go and I am sure you will be pleased with the results. For the flowers I used spellbinders blossom 5,when I had cut them out i inked the edges and then cut between each segment then turned them over and embossed from the back each petal then turned them back to the front and embossed the centre. Then I layered a smaller one on top of the larger one and scrunched it all up a bit, I was pleased with the out come. Then while the flowers dried I cut a piece of glitter card a cm larger than the lacey background and used sticky pads to stick it on to the glitter card as it is a stronger sticky than tape. I could have used silicone but was in a hurry to get it in the post and didn't have the time to let it dry. I then added the sentiment to the centre and and added the flowers and bow. I hope you like the finished card,I was very pleased with it and I know the friend I sent it to liked it very much. I think it shows you don't always need to use a image to make a card look attractive.

P.S Sorry I forgot to mention that the Die I used for the sentiment was spellbinders Venetian Motifs

Angie's card designs

Hello everyone
I have a new card to show you today,It is my latest DT card for the creative craft cottage challenge blog. The theme this month is Fabric or Felt so I decided on this image of the house mouse babies in bed. I found some lovely patchwork material and decided to try using it as the quilt on the bed,it's hard to see from the photo that it is real material though,so I am including a close up so hopefully you can see it better. I must admit to it being a challenge for me this time as it is not something I usually use on my cards. So I hope I have managed to pull it off and you like the finished card.

So why not pop over to http://creativecraftcottage.blogspot.co.nz/ and enter this months challenge,we would love to see you're creations x
